Litigation Section. He specialises in trade
mark and copyright litigation, including
unlawful competition and passing-off. He
has specialist knowledge and expertise in
Advertising Standards Authority disputes.
Mike is a senior adjudicator on the domain
name dispute panel of the South African
Institute of Intellectual Property Law.

Marius specialises in the registration of
trade marks, franchising and copyright law.
He is also actively involved in related
commercial intellectual property matters,
including the licensing of intellectual
property and intellectual property due
diligence reports. Marius is a member of
the Licensing Executive Society (LES) and
has been actively involved in drafting
licensing agreements. In the franchising
field, Marius has advised many of the
leading South African franchisors on their
trade mark portfolios and franchise
agreements. Marius has also presented
lectures on copyright to under- and postgraduate
students at a number of tertiary
education institutions.

Llewellyn is primarily responsible for
handling foreign and local biotechnological
patents. This includes reading foreign
patent specifications prior to filing in South
Africa to ensure compliance with local
requirements as well as effecting necessary
amendments where there is noncompliance.
Regarding local intellectual
property, this includes preparing patent
specifications for filing in South Africa as
well as filing and prosecuting
corresponding foreign applications.
Llewellyn also negotiates contracts for the
exploitation of intellectual property
between inventors and start-up companies
and vice versa, and licence agreements
between intellectual property rights
holders (not always patents) and users,
particularly in the biotechnological field
where there are unique circumstances.
Llewellyn is also active in intellectual
property litigation, again not limited to
patents, but including copyright, unlawful
competition and contract, particularly
restraint of trade provisions.

She specializes in all trade mark related matters including conducting availability searches and filing, prosecution and registration of trade marks in South Africa and Southern Africa. She is also experienced in trade mark portfolio management and reviews and copyright matters, and has experience in commercial intellectual property matters including drafting and reviewing of trade mark licence agreements and franchise agreements and participating in due diligence exercises.
